Minutes of Meeting of Dún Laoghaire Area Committee (HEPI) held on 2nd September 2019.

 

In relation to minute no. DLHEPI/203/19 –Confirmation of Minutes- it was AGREED to amend the minutes by replacing Councillor M. Clark with Councillor J. Gildea as the proposer for the minutes of the DL/HEPI meeting held on 8th May 2019 as follows:

 

It was proposed by Councillor J. Gildea and seconded by Councillor C. Smyth and RESOLVED:

 

“That the minutes of the meeting of Dún Laoghaire Area Committee (Housing, Economic Community and Cultural Development, Planning and Organisational Innovation & Infrastructure and Climate Change Business) meeting held on the 8th May 2019, be CONFIRMED and ADOPTED.”

 

The amendment was AGREED.

 

Adoption of Minutes of Meeting of Dún Laoghaire Area Committee (HEPI) held on 2nd September 2019.

“That the minutes of the meeting of Dún Laoghaire Area Committee (Housing, Economic Community and Cultural Development, Planning and Organisational Innovation & Infrastructure and Climate Change Business) meeting held on the 7th October 2019, be CONFIRMED and ADOPTED as amended.”

The following motion was proposed by Councillor H. Lewis and seconded by Councillor M. Halpin.

 

“That this Committee agrees that the Council will ensure that Monkstown/Dún Laoghaire Alcoholics Anonymous are facilitated in a community centre or library in their catchment area to hold their meetings, as they are being required to vacate their current meeting place in the crypt at Monkstown Church as it is being refurbished”.

 

The report of the Chief Executive was CONSIDERED.

The following motion was proposed by Councillor M. Halpin and seconded by Councillor H. Lewis.

 

“That this Committee agrees that the supervised playground on Library Road is a wonderful resource for the residents of Dún Laoghaire area and we agree that this supervision should be continued into the future”.

 

The Chairperson, Councillor U. Power advised the Members that she received a petition from members of the public in relation to this matter.

 

 

It was AGREED to take Item 20 in conjunction with Item 19.

 

 

Item 20: Plans for Library Road Playground

 

The following motion was proposed by Councillor C. Devlin and seconded by Councillor M. Clark.

 

“That the Chief Executive supplies a detailed report on this Council’s plans for the Library Road Playground, Dún Laoghaire town over the next 5 years?”.

 

The report of the Chief Executive was CONSIDERED.

 

A discussion on Items 19 and 20 took place during which Ms. D. Lawson, Director of Community and Cultural Development, Ms. M. Ruane, Senior Executive Officer, Community and Cultural Development and Mr. R. O’Dulaing, Senior Parks Superintendent, Municipal Services, responded to Members queries. Ms. Lawson said she would follow up with Members on a query regarding funding and confirm the contribution that the Council makes towards the Crosscare service. The Crosscare service is ceasing at the end of 2019.

 

The Executive reiterated that Crosscare has informed the Council of their intention to cease providing this service in 2020.

 

It was AGREED to proceed to a decision on Items 19 and 20 separately.
