“That the Chief Executive report on the Social Housing Construction Lands being progressed within the remit of this Area Committee, and confirm any progress in having secured funding to have infrastructural deficiencies addressed which would enable new lands be prepared for development. And to list the sites requiring initial servicing.”

“That this Committee agrees that the Chief Executive should approach the owners of St Helens Court with a view to purchasing units where tenants (including some HAP tenants) are facing eviction, and in the event of being unable to contact the owners, to enlist the support of the Minister to protect these tenancies.”

“That the Chief Executive brings a full report on the efforts the Community Department has made to ensure the playground on Library Road remains supervised, and in the event that they have not yet secured the continuation of the service, this Committee instructs the Chief Executive to do so and bring a report as a headed item to the next meeting of this Committee.”

The Chairperson, Councillor U. Power declared the motion CARRIED.

 

Following this, the Executive reiterated that supervised playgrounds are not Council policy and reiterated the statement to the October HEPI meeting that the motion at the October meeting could not be implemented for the reasons outlined in the Chief Executive’s report.

Bob Hannan, Senior Architect advised the Members of the progress on the Dún Laoghaire Baths Project.

 

A lengthy discussion took place in which the Senior Architect responded to questions from the Members.

The Chairperson advised the Members that the following Motion (1) was handed up from the Floor:

It was proposed by Councillor M. Halpin and seconded by Councillor U. Power;

 

 “That this area committee agrees that a swimming pool should be included in this phase of the baths redevelopment and calls on the Chief Executive to pursue this with the contractor as a matter of urgency”

 

A discussion followed, during which Bob Hannon, Senior Architect responded to Members queries.

 

 

It was AGREED to come back to this item later in the meeting.

 “That the Chief Executive arranges to dish the kerb urgently or rearrange the container “That the Chief Executive arranges to dish the kerb urgently or rearrange the containers at the Monkstown Bring Centre so that people with disabilities can mount the kerb and use the recycling facilities there. Please state when these works will be carried out?”

Progress on The Dun Laoghaire Baths Project

 “That this area committee agrees that the CE reports to this committee in December on the implications for contract, cost and time of including a swimming pool in this phase of the baths redevelopment”

 “That this area committee agrees that a report be brought back in December on the inclusion of a swimming pool in phase 1 of (Dún Laoghaire) Baths with implications for contract, cost and timeframe.”

Austin Baines, Senior Executive Office, Infrastructure & Climate Changed advised the Members of progress on the Former Carnegie Library.

 

A discussion took place in which the Senior Executive Officer responded to questions from the Members. The Senior Executive Officer agreed to return to the members with information on the grant applied for and if it were the same as at Dundrum Library.

 

The report was NOTED.

 

Austin Baines asked for Members to contact him with questions and comments.

Proposed disposal of the Council's Freehold Interest in a plot of land at Beech Park, Bray Road, Dublin 18 to O'Flynn Construction (Cabinteely) Limited

Austin Baines, Senior Executive Office, Infrastructure & Climate Changed advised the Members on the Proposed Disposal land at Beech Park.

 

A discussion took place in which the Senior Executive Officer responded to questions from the Members. The Senior Executive Officer agreed to clarify if the lands were previously involved in a High Court case.

 

It was AGREED to defer this item to the next meeting of the Dún Laoghaire Area Committee (HEPI).
