“To ask the Architect Department to consider preparing a proposal to improve the end of Upper George's Street closest to the People's park? This proposal should align with the 'Quarters' as out in the urban structure plan and be age friendly. It is necessary to have a vision for footpath repair/tree planting/new benches etc., which will be in line with Haigh Terrace, the rest of Upper George’s Street, Marine Road and People's park. This will encourage the movement of people to increase footfall and new business.”

WEST PIER HALTING SITE

“That this Committee, given the recent fire and destruction of a family home at the West Pier Halting Site, call on the Chief Executive to prioritize the development of the appropriate proposed Traveller specific accommodation to be delivered for the family at the West Pier so that resources, staff and otherwise are directed to achieve this as quickly as possible.”

ST. HELEN’S COURT, DÚN LAOGHAIRE

“That this Committee calls on the Chief Executive to, once again, approach the owners of St Helen's Court, George's Street, Dún Laoghaire this time with the aim of buying the tenanted apartments, where the tenants are in receipt of notices to quit.”

8.

Strategic Housing Developments

In accordance with the Planning and Development (Housing) and Residential Tenancies Act 2016 Section 8 (4) & (5) (http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/2016/act/17/enacted/en/html), any Strategic Housing Development (SHD) applications notified to the planning authority by An Bórd Pleanála (ABP) shall be covered under this item. Representatives of the Planning Department will inform the members of the following

a)   The details of the application

b)   The details of relevant pre planning consultations that have taken place with the Planning Authority and tripartite meetings with An Bórd Pleanála (ABP).

c)    Details of ABP’s opinion issued on foot of the tripartite meeting.

d)   Where the meeting takes place after the 5 week submission period; a summary of the points raised in the observations received by the Bórd and where the Chief Executive has formed a view of the effects of the proposed development on the proper planning and sustainable development of the area, such views.

Subsequent to the above presentation, 

·       An opportunity is provided to the members to get clarity on the detail of the application presented

Finally, representatives of the Planning Department will then record a summary of the expressed views of the elected members on the proposed development, to be included in the CE’s report to be submitted to An Bórd Pleanála.

ROUTE FROM BRIDE’S GLEN TO LOUGHLISTOWN ROUNDABOUT

“That this Area Committee, in light of the lack of progress to date on a mutually acceptable agreement being reached between this Local Authority and the Health Service Executive regarding the route of the Brides Glen to Loughlinstown roundabout on the N11, requests the Chief Executive to commence the compulsory purchase process to acquire the necessary land for the Council’s and the NTA’s preferred route.”
