DART Disability Services - Presentation from Irish Rail

Presentation by Chris Rafferty from Irish Rail.

Councillors made wide-ranging observations e.g. about hub stations and disabled people having to phone ahead (by 4 hours rather than 24 hours which had been the case) in order to access DART services.  It was stated that although this improvement is welcome, there is still a long way to go to improve the rights of people with disabilities.

There is a problem with stations not always being manned but it was confirmed that this is a result of natural wastage of staff rather than staff cuts. Incidences of anti-social behaviour can be an issue, although there is cctv which is monitored on a 24/7 basis.

Future improvements will include the new station at Woodbrook having up-to-date facilities and a new app should be coming into operation later this year giving information on disability access.

This report was NOTED.
