LIGHTS SEQUENCE/ROAD WIDTH MARINE ROAD pdf icon PDF 91 KB

It was PROPOSED by Councillor J. O’Connell and SECONDED by Councillor C. Smyth

“That the Chief Executive reports on the issues of lights sequence and/or road width on the top of Marine Road.

There are two lanes at the lights, but they are so narrow that two commercial vehicles, and certainly two buses, cannot line up beside each other.

For example of a current issue; if a number 7 bus in the left lane and a 46A in the right, and the light changes from red it first gives a green filter for the left-hand lane, but the traffic in that lane is frequently blocked until the right-hand lane gets its filter and both lanes can move forward.

Are there any solutions to this issue? Can the road be widened by a metre – the pavement is wide enough – and as more of an immediate response to alter the sequence of lights.”

The report of the Senior Executive Engineer, Traffic & Road Safety Section, was ACCEPTED and the Motion was AGREED.
