Potential Zero Waste Strategies - Councillor Sorcha Nic Cormaic

That this council investigates potential zero-waste strategies employed by organisations such as NiftyBins, and conducts a feasibility study in terms of the possibility of introducing zero-waste strategies into our waste management policies.

Following discussion the Reply was NOTED.

County Wide Ban on Single Use Plastics - Councillor Nic Cormaic

That this council considers a county-wide ban on single use plastics at council-supported events including CoCo markets

Austin Baines responded that the Council was committed to this initiative.  Following discussion the Reply was NOTED.

Environmental Awareness Projects Presentation - Martha Casserly

Martha Casserly, gave a presentation on the role of the Council’s Awareness Litter and Waste Prevention Section.  Martha informed members about Community based projects, promotional campaigns, grants and school environmental projects active 2019. 

 

Following questions from Councillors and SPC members the presentation was NOTED.

Climate Change Update

Climate Change Update: Austin Baines gave a Progress Report on Climate Change.  497 submissions were received by the four Dublin Local Authorities. 

The Council’s Executive is currently reviewing the submissions received and will produce a Chief’s Executive Report responding to the submissions.

 

It is hoped the Chief Executive’s Report and Plan will be bought to the May Council’s meeting for the members consideration.

 

Following discussion the Update was NOTED.
