“That the Chief Executive, given the need to avail of whatever opportunities exist to promote tourism and business in the area covered by this Area Committee, that the centenary of the adoption of the name ‘Dún Laoghaire’ by way of a Motion tabled by Cllr. Seán Ó hUadhaigh on July 6th 1920 in respect of the name of the Urban District Council, later confirmed by a meeting of the Dublin County Council on July 24th 1920, and at a Traffic Conference in London on December 2nd 1920 in respect of the name of the Town, be depicted on a postage stamp commemorating the event as part of the ‘Decade of Centenaries’ and that this Committee write to An Post requesting such for 2020 or 2021?”

“That this Committee call the implementation of SLO 142 (To prepare a Local Area Plan for Ballybrack/Loughlinstown) as contained within the DLRCoCo County Development Plan 2016-2022, given the commencement of works at the Cherrywood SDZ.”

Report on Former Bray Landfill Additional documents: Mr A. Baines, Senior Executive Officer, Infrastructure and Climate Change Department presented a report on the former Bray Landfill. A discussion took place during which he responded to Members’ queries.
It was AGREED that a workshop with Dún Laoghaire Area Committee (Housing, Economic Community and Cultural Development, Planning and Organisational Innovation & Infrastructure and Climate Change Business)take place at a later date when the report from the consultants on the Coastal erosion at this location has been received and reviewed, and that a site visit be arranged.

Repainting of Exterior Walls It was proposed by Councillor M. Merrigan and seconded by Councillor M. Halpin
“That the Chief Executive arranges for a thorough inspection of the exterior walls and front doors of the houses on Cross Avenue and Desmond Avenue to assess and undertake whatever repainting of the exterior walls or front doors is required following the very extensive roadworks and wonderful public realm improvement scheme carried out in this area as part of Specific Local Objective 152?”
A discussion took place during which Ms A. Hegarty, Senior Executive Officer, Housing Department responded to Members’ queries.
