“That this Committee calls on Dublin Bus and the NTA to install a significant number of additional real time (RTPI) screens in Sallynoggin given the now reduced bus service.”

Improved Road Safety at ALDI, Sallynoggin It was PROPOSED by Councillor C. Devlin and SECONDED by Councillor M. Halpin
““That the Chief Executive brings forward options to make the entrance/exit from the new Aldi, Sallynoggin safer for both pedestrians and motorists who are either using; the footpath, the car park and/or crossing the now very busy Pearse Street”
It was AGREED that a report on this item would be brought back to a future meeting.

Reinstallation of Railing on N11 It was PROPOSED by Councillor J. Gildea and SECONDED by Councillor M. Fayne
“That this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive to take immediate action to reinstall the section of railing in the median underneath the footbridge on the N11 at its junction with Johnstown Road in order to encourage pedestrian to use the foot bridge. This section of railing was removed to facilitate pedestrians crossing the N11 while the footbridge was closed for maintenance/upgrading some time ago but was not replaced when the work on the bridge was completed”
The Chief Executive read the report and following a discussion the item was NOTED by the members.

Reduction of Pay & Display operating hours It was PROPOSED by Councillor S. O’Brien and SECONDED by Councillor M. Halpin
“That this Committee wish to see a reduction if pay & display operating hours in Dún Laoghaire Town to help local businesses and encourage others to visit and shop in the town. This change should see Pay & Display hours reduced by three hours and only operate up until 16:00 and will be implemented as part of Budget 2017.”

Review of Pay & Display Parking at Dun Laoghaire It was PROPOSED by Councillor M. Merrigan and SECONDED by Councillor S. O’Brien
“That, this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive to prioritise the review of the Pay and Display Parking system in Dún Laoghaire and given that this matter was sent by this Area Committee to the Strategic Policy Committee on Transportation in November 2014, that the inordinate and unacceptable delay in progressing this matter be investigated and a report prepared on the matter for this Area Committee”.

Bus Stops on Old Bray Road It was PROPOSED by Councillor J. Gildea and SECONDED by Councillor B. Ward
“That this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive to ensure that a bus stop suitable for mobility impaired persons and for persons with child buggies is provided between stop numbers 3127 and 3130 on the 84 & 84A routes as these stops are .8KM apart and furthermore that the Chief Executive ensures that the existing bus stop number 3129 is maintained in its current location until a new facility is provided”

“That this Area Committee agrees to increase the general cleaning, road sweeping and emptying of bins both in Dún Laoghiare Town and on the Seafront.”

Road Nameplates at Glenomena Park It was PROPOSED by Councillor B. Ward and SECONDED by Councillor P. Stewart
“That this Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to reinstate the signs on Glenomena Park in Booterstown, identifying the road as “Páirc Ghleann na Mná/Glenomena Park”, thereby replacing recent signage that reads “Páirc Ghleann no Mina/Glenomena Park”, and resolves to obtain an explanation as to why the name of this road in the national language appears to have been changed both on signage and in the Placenames Database of Ireland/ Sonraí de Logainmneacha na hÉireann.”
Following a discussion, it was AGREED that the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs would be written to, to seek clarification on the matter. |

“That the Chief Executive in recognition of the large numbers of visitors to Dun Laoghaire erect signposts to the nearest Public Toilets [i] at the foot of Marine Road [ii] at the beginning of the east pier [iii] on Queen's Road beside the People's Park and [iv] halfway along Newtownsmith, indicating distance in both directions.”

“That this Area Committee agrees to a general refurbishment of the public park and playing fields in Sallynoggin, to include the provision of bins, benches and regular cleaning.”
Following a discussion during which the Chief Executive responded to members queries, it was AGREED that in relation to the litter bins, a report will be brought back to a future meeting. Motion was NOTED.

Official Recognition It was PROPOSED by Councillor M. Merrigan and SECONDED by Councillor D. O’Callaghan and AGREED.
“That, this Area Committee requests the Heritage Officer to place the following before the Memorials Committee for consideration and report. “That, the potential afforded by the proposed Part 8 development at George’s Place to facilitate an official recognition of the heritage and social history of that part of Dún Laoghaire be examined by the Memorials Committee and, in particular, to possibly honour the following two local men connected with important events and national movements in Irish history. Daniel Reddin (1842-1879) a local member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood who was imprisoned for his involvement in the attempted rescue of Fenian leaders in Manchester in 1867 and who was reportedly very badly treated in custody resulting in his death soon after release in 1879 and James Byrne (1877-1913) who was a local Trade Unionist active in the Dublin Lockout of 1913 and who also died on release in 1913 of injuries received when in prison. The funerals of these men were enormous public events, both widely reported at home and overseas, the former to the Fenian Plot in Glasnevin Cemetery and the latter to Deansgrange Cemetery with an oration by James Connolly.”

“That this Committee discuss the provision of facilities at Shanganagh Park for users and the clubs who are based in the park in preparation of the new Shanganagh Park Masterplan.”
The report of the Chief Executive was ACCEPTED.

“That the Chief Executive provide litter bins on the green area between Killiney Beach and Seafield in front of Shanganagh Cliffs.”
Following a discussion during which the Chief Executive responded to the Member’s queries it was AGREED that a report will be brought back to a future meeting. Motion was NOTED.
