Confirmation and Adoption of Minutes It was proposed by Councillor C. Devlin and seconded by Councillor D. O’Callaghan and agreed that the minutes of the meeting of Dun Laoghaire Municipal Services Area Committee meeting held on the 28th November, 2016 be CONFIRMED and ADOPTED.
It was AGREED by the Members to take 15 minutes to discuss the proposed upgrade works to the Council’s Concourse. |

“That the Chief Executive arranges for the installation of bollards, whether flexible or otherwise, or other safety measures, at the edge of the footpath on the north side of Willow Place and Willowmount in Booterstown, near the pedestrian gate into Willow Park School, so that vehicles are physically prevented from mounting the footpath here, particularly in light of known increased traffic volumes at certain times, and recently reported incidents at this location, and that she would further consider other road safety solutions at this location, including a review of on-street parking provisions.”

SOLAR POWERED CYCLE TRACKS It was proposed by Councillor S. O’Brien, seconded by Councillor J. Gildea
“That this Area Committee commends the works of Polish town Pruszkow in their efforts to improve cycle safety with the introduction of solar powered cycle tracks and calls on the Chief Executive to investigate if such a project could be piloted in this area and report back to this committee when finished.”

Councillor J. Bailey - CYCLE LANE / JOHNSTOWN SCHOOL It was proposed by Councillor J. Bailey, seconded by Councillor M. Baker
“That in view of the fact that there are nearly nine hundred and fifty young children in Johnstown School, a lot of whom only use the cycle lane from the top of the road to the school entrance, motorists are now parking on the footpath and opening car doors in the path of young cyclists. I saw today a very near serious accident where a cyclist ended up in the road. I now request that the Chief Executive put bollards along the footpath to prevent cars parking on the same as an urgent matter.”

"That this Committee considers that any development on the north side of the N11 between White's Cross and Kill Lane should not be allowed vehicular access to quiet, residential areas on that side of the N11, specifically Knocksinna Court and Granville Road, and calls on the Chief Executive to ensure that any planning permission granted for such a development would provide for vehicular access on/off the N11."

It is noted that the Rathmichael Road end of the right-of-way is overgrown to the extent that it is no longer visable from the road”

OUTDOOR GYM NEWTOWNSMITH It was proposed by Councillor Patricia Stewart and Councillor John F. Bailey and seconded by Councillor Barry Ward.
“That the Chief Executive will relocate the outdoor gym on Newtownsmith to a place where it will be protected from repeated vandalism and will not provide a focal point for disturbance to nearby residents especially at night time.”
A discussion took place, during which the Senior Executive Parks Superintendent, Municipal Services, responded to members’ queries.
